Apple sends Windows to Boot Camp

Apple released a beta of Boot Camp today, an “official” Windows/Mac dual boot solution. It will be built in to OS X 10.5 “Leopard”. The ability to easily dual boot means that my next computer will be a Mac.

Of course I recently bought a G4 mini, and my Dell is not even a year old, so my next computer is a few years down the road.…

The hard drive on my iMac died, it would have cost $300 to fix. So instead I went on eBay and got a G4 Mac mini for $500 including shipping. I could have gotten a new Intel Mac mini for a little more money, about $100 more.…

Well, earlier this month I reported that my iMac was dead. Well it’s alive again. Turns out that it wasn’t dead after all. Joe at MMCS had it for a week and it ran rock solid. He defragged the drive and fixed a few disk permissions but he didn’t find anything would cause a kernel panic.…

Lots of new stuff from Apple

Macworld San Francisco is a busy place with lots of new stuff. iPod shuffle, the Mac mini, and lots of new software were introduced.

The iPod shuffle is Apples entry into the flash memory based music player market. Looks good and should sell well, especially since it has the iPod name.…
