Added Library Thing to my right sidebar. Seems to slow down my page loads a bit. Is it noticeable enough to be a bother? Does anybody read this blog anymore? 🙂
On Twitter
I’m realizing that Twitter has given my blog a new lease on life. Making my tweets display on the front page definitely keeps the blog more on my mind since I use twitter and twitterific heavily these days. Pondering a Library Monk redesign now, but I have lots of other projects on the to-do list ahead of that.
Doug Raber – Public Library Director
Doug Raber, a friend and former advisor of mine at both Tennessee and Missouri, is leaving academia to be the public library director in Ferndale, Michigan. The local paper there has the story.
Best of luck Doug, dress warmly. 🙂
Updated to WordPress 2.5
Updated Library Monk to WordPress 2.5 The backend is very different. I especially like the automatic plugin updating feature. That caused me to update a few really old versions of plugins I was using.
Also added my tweets from Twitter on the main page.
More later..
House News
The house is creeping along. The finishing foundation work is mostly done. I’ll be interested to see what the finished product looks like. Right now I’m not that happy but I’m reserving judgement at this point.
We’ve had to hire a lawyer to help us through this last part of the process. There have been numerous delays and changes to plans and we just want to make sure there are no unexpected surprises at final closing.
But on the plus side Stephanie has painted Lisa’s room. Stephanie has pictures as always. But here’s a sample.
We have the power
Well technically my new house does. The floors are done and the electricity is on and working.
Stephanie has updates. The wood floors look nice. I’m really pleased with how the floors turned out.
The library reorg picked up steam yesterday, some new appointments have been made and searches are starting. A couple of the new jobs look very appealing.
In what appears to be a monthly event…
…I’m blogging. The house is still under construction but we’re really close to being done now. Stephanie has updates.
Lisa is now two, pictures are here.
Work is still busy, the library reorganization (and resulting confusion continues)…
Work Work Work
Well it has taken me almost to the end on January to post anything. Been buried at work, been ill a bit and trying to keep up with my whirlwind of an almost 2 year old daughter. Blogging is but a distant memory. Perhaps I shall see it again in the near future . 🙂
Long December…
with not a post to the blog in sight. Busy month, hopefully more posts to come in the new year. If you really want to stalk me… 🙂 look for updates on Twitter.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
More on the sad state of Hoskins Library
The Knoxville News Sentinel has a story on Hoskins Library. The damage over there is pretty serious. If you ask me they should just tear down the Kefauver wing instead f trying to fix the foundation (which has been tried before).
Be sure to check out the video that goes with the article. Some of those cracks are quite large. It will take serious money to fix all that damage even if the foundation is fixed.
